Bronwen Micallef
Mental Health Occupational Therapist
Bronwen (or Bron, is what we call her!) is an experienced Mental Health Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of Sydney in 2000, worked in various occupational therapy positions before finding her passion in paediatric mental health 6 years ago.
Her background in mental health is primarily in Out of Home Care and paediatric private practice, helping children, parents and carers understand why children do what they do and what we can do to support children to grow into the best version of themselves that they can be!
Bron has a compassionate understanding of children and their behaviours which is evidence based, and comes from the understanding of neurobiology, attachment theory, sensory processing, child development and the impact of the impact of early adverse experiences on the developing brain.
She uses play as her primary tool to engage and work with children, which makes coming to therapy a positive experience for everyone!
Bron will see children with diagnoses of developmental trauma, PTSD, ADHD, ASD, ODD, RAD, anxiety, depression, sensory processing disorder and well as other behavioural concerns, disrupted attachment, medical trauma more. It is important to note that even though these labels exist every child is different, and the child is valued as such, their diagnosis is only seen within the context of a medical framework not representing of who the they truely are.
When Bronwen is at home she enjoys going to the beach, enjoying the outdoors and hanging out with her husband, 4 teenage children and dog, Leia.
Bron is able to provide services through Medicare, NDIS, third-party and private funding
